The Discipline of DE

20 Feb

The Discipline of DE is a short film created by Gus Van Sant in 1982. The film plays like a self-help movie, teaching viewers how to do this as easily as possible. DE stands for Do Easy. He suggests when doing tasks, like cleaning the apartment, to repeat each one until it is done without mishaps. Van Sant equates life to filmmaking with this film. Instead of an actor repeating takes until he gets it right, Van Sant asks viewers to repeat everything in their lives until they do it perfectly. A good concept, but this would lead to a lack of productivity for most.
