In four minutes, Philippe Orreindy manages to create a very funny film; or a very sad one, depending on your point of view. Created in 2002, I’ll Wait for the Next One begins with a man expressing his search for love while on the subway. Throughout his speech, the camera cuts to a woman who, as the man speaks, becomes more interested in his words. At the end of his speech, the woman walks off the train. The man, shocked, claims ‘It was only a skit,’ a conclusion that not many people could predict. While the scene itself is funny for the viewer, it is easy to imagine the embarrassment one would experience in the woman’s shoes.
